They paved paradise

I took this photo standing in our driveway and looking across the street at the wonderful clouds through the grand tree silhouettes last week. Yesterday, they cut down the giant tree on the left to clear the way for a sidewalk. It is great that we will have a sidewalk on our street for walking, it has been very sad to see so many trees have to get out of the way!

"They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what youve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot."
-Joni Mitchell

Beautiful. That is the contstant struggle...nature vs. civilization. At least they didn't clear cut the whole group.

So true. We've lost a few trees around here due to disease. It's amazing what change it makes.

Is that originally a Joni Mitchell song? I can't think of the group right now that remade it, but it's one of my favorite songs.

Oh how sad ..I always think of the poor birds when that happens......Joni was a very wise lady. I love Jackie's comment she is obviously not as old as us LOL.
